Samsung Galaxy NX in Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens Camera

Samsung Galaxy Nx 4

The new Samsung Galaxy NX is the first interchangeable lens camera to feature the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system. It also has 3G, 4G and Wi-Fi connectivity. All this means you can quickly and easily shoot, edit and share your pictures. This should appeal to a wide range of users from enthusiasts to semi-professionals. The Android interface means you can run other non-photographic apps as well, such as Angry Birds, or even check your email and browse the web.

From the front the camera looks similar to others in the NX range, but from the rear it takes the look of a Galaxy smartphone, such as the S4. It is filled with the 4.8 inch touch screen, this means there is little need for many buttons. On the top is the on / off button, movie record, shutter release and dial. There are very little labels to tell you what each button does, three of them are easy to work out, but the dial is blank. This can be pressed, then used to set the shutter speed and aperture.

The Galaxy NX has a 20.3 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor with Hybrid Autofocus, combining phase detection AF and contrast AF, giving you sharp images with minimal shutter lag. Unfortunately we weren't able to give these features a thorough testing, that will have to wait till the camera arrives for its full test.

Overall, it's great to see Samsung is continuing to develop new cameras with the Android OS and it seems certain to have its place in the market.
