Samsung memory stands out from the crowd with its '4-proof' technology,meaning the cards are temperature proof, waterproof, shock proof and magnet proof. Samsung has now introduced a new range of EVO+ and PRO+ microSDXC memory cards, updating bringing faster speeds for 4K video and full HD equipped devices. Both come with an SD adapter and are also available as SD cards.

These micro SDXC cards come with a 10 year warranty and the latest models are UHS I / Class 10 cards so should be extremely quick. Samsung say the PRO+ card is ideal for smartphones and 4K UHD action cameras capable of recording high quality video. The EVO+ is the mid range card and is great for those with Full HD action cams and smartphones with a massive capacity of 128GB. With this in mind, let's see how they perform in our tests.

Samsung PRO+ EVO+ Memory Card Performance

To test the read and write times of these cards, we used a USB 3.0 card reader and CrystalDiskMark 3.0.1 x64. For digital cameras, the write time is the most important aspect as this determines how quickly you can write photos from the camera to the card. The read time is important when you want to copy the photos from the card onto your PC or view them in playback mode on the camera.
 

While read and write speeds from the Samsung PRO+ MicroSD card are not as quick as specified on the box, the card does deliver extremely high read and write speeds, and slightly quicker performance than the Sandisk Extreme Pro card. The Samsung card is also quicker than a number of other high-speed cards. 

The EVO+ MicroSD card delivers quick read speeds, and improved write speeds over the previous model, and although it is not able to keep up with the high-speed MicroSD memory cards, it still managed to achieve over the maximum write speed specified on the box!

Value For Money

The Samsung PRO+ 64GB SD card is available for £72.01, compared to around £24.99 for a 64GB Sandisk Extreme Pro card. This is quite a large price difference however the Sandisk is only capable of 60MB/s read speed, which could hold you back when filming in 4K. 

The Samsung EVO+ 128GB MicroSD card is available for £62.99 with the adapter, compared to around £51.99 for a 128GB Sandisk Ultra with adapter. These cards are pretty evenly matched, with the Samsung edging it giving a 10 year warranty for peace of mind.

The Samsung PRO+ microSDXC memory card offers some of the fastest read and write speeds available as well as offering a 10 year warranty that is also backed up by the card being waterproof, temperature proof, x-ray proof and magnet proof making it much more likely to survive when compared to more fragile cards. We would therefore be happy to recommend the Samsung PRO+ microSDXC memory cards.

The Samsung EVO+ MicroSDXC card offers quick read and write speeds, and is well priced for the capacity of the card. The Samsung EVO+ card offers a similar level of toughness, and for those that need a MicroSD card but don't need the extra read and write speeds of the PRO+ card, it will be a great choice. For the quickest performance and filming in 4K UHD, the Samsung PRO+ microSDXC card is recommended.

	The Samsung PRO+ microSDXC and EVO+ microSDXC memory cards offer fast read and write speeds to cope with HD video recording and are tough enough to withstand rough treatment.
