Seaside Photography With Your Optio Camera

A trip to the seaside can be great no matter what the weather is like, but at this time of year the weather can be quite unpredictable so you may be unwilling to take your camera out in case of the rain. 

By using a Pentax Optio camera though, you don't have to worry about the rain (so long as it's not too heavy), plus you can have a go at some different kinds of seaside and beach photography that might be a bit risky with kit that isn't waterproof.

Stormy seas - Using a Pentax Optio camera will enable photograph waves and not have to worry if the camera gets splashed in the process, enabling you (if it's safe to to do so and you don't mind getting wet yourself) to capture some stunning shots of waves crashing to shore or into rock faces. Shoot with a fast shutter speed to make sure those waves are frozen in action. Please do be very careful when photographing waves and never put yourself in danger!

In the water - Optio cameras are all waterproof, the latest model, the WG3, to 14m. Shooting in the water (if it's clear enough to do so) will provide a different angle for your collection of seaside shots. If you don't want to go all the way under water why not try shooting with the camera half in and out of the water. 

Sandy - Not only are Optio cameras waterproof, they're also easy to clean if they get sandy, so don't be afraid to get down low in the sand and take some shots from a different angle. The Optio WG3 is also shockproof to 2m, just in case is is accidentally dropped on the rocks! 

Macro shots - Newer models of Optio cameras have six LED macro lights positioned around the lens barrel for brighter, more uniform illumination on macro subjects. This will be great for shooting close ups of sea life or shells and stones, which often have really interesting patterns and formulations on them. 

Tag your shots - GPS will let you automatically record the position you photos were taken in. This is great for triggering your memory when you come to process your photos, making it easier to group photos taken in certain places or at certain times.
