Nikon Z6 Z7 Internal Body (2)

The new Nikon Z6 and Z7 have the same camera body, with a magnesium alloy construction. The Nikon Z6 and Z7 share a lot of features, including the camera body, but differ in the sensor used, as well as a few other areas including continuous shooting speed, and ISO range. Have a look at our Nikon Z6/Z7 Hands-on preview to find out more.

Nikon Z6 Z7 Cutaway (1)

Here's one cut in half, right through the middle of the tripod socket. You can see the complexity of the electronic viewfinder optics quite clearly here, as well as the lens, and the distance between the rear lens element, and the sensor. The Nikon Z6 and Z7 use a Nikon Z lens mount, with a large diameter, and short flange distance between the lens and the sensor, which is said to give Nikon an advantage when it comes to making bright lenses. They're shown a lens roadmap for 2019 and 2020.

Nikon Z6 Z7 Internals (1)

The full-frame sensor in the two cameras differ, with the Z6 featuring a 24mp sensor, and the Z7 featuring a 45mp sensor - this gives the cameras a different ISO range, as well as quicker continuous shooting on the Z6, with 12fps available. In front of this is the shutter unit. You can view more photos below, showing more angles.

Interesting to see all the electronic processing action on the one sparse circuit board.
