Serif Affinity Photo

After 5 years in the making and a public Beta, Serif has today released an all-new image editing app for Mac users that's certainly a more affordable option for photographers, plus Serif say it's quick to use as well fast to respond and it features a wide variety of editing tools.

Some of the tools found in Affinity Photo include camera lens and exposure corrections, accurate adjustments, live filter layers, high-end controls for channels and masks, advanced layer handling, and built-in frequency separation editing. RAW processing, PSD import and export, 16-bits per channel editing, and ICC colour management are also featured in the new release.

The performance capabilities of Affinity Photo are something Serif are quite happy to talk about, too with Tony Brightman, head of Affinity development, saying: "The performance of the product is what we are most proud of. We take full advantage of all the latest Apple technologies like Open GL, Grand Central Dispatch and Core Graphics. What this means to the user is whether it's a 100-megapixel image or a complex composition with 1000s of layers, you can still pan and zoom at 60fps and see live views of all adjustments, brushes, blend modes and filters with no compromise."

Affinity Photo is available exclusively in the Mac App Store for the special launch price of £29.99 until 23 July where it will revert to its normal price of £39.99 with no subscription.

Serif have put together a short video highlighting some of the new features found in Affinity Photo which you can watch here:

I've been using Affinity Photo since it's early test versions and can highly recommend it, i've been running tasks in parallel with PS at work. It's a great piece of software.
