The 8th Sheffield Adventure Film Festival is celebrating the art of stills photography as well as the moving image with a brand new photography competition and exhibition.

Photographers have until 11 February 2013 to submit just one image on the theme of Adventure and/or the Peak District (ideally both).

A panel of judges including renowned outdoor and adventure travel photographer Alex Ekins will select a shortlist of six which will then be judged by public vote at the Sheffield Adventure Film Festival Photography Exhibition at the Showroom/Workstation during the festival weekend (1-3 March).

To enter, photographers need to email their image (minimum 88x600 pixels) to Dave Mycroft.

Prizes include:
  • £50 and trophy for the winner
  • Two £25 cash prizes for 2 runners up
  • Front page editorial on both shortlist and winners on MyOutdoorsUK
  • 6 month gallery on MyOutdoorsUK and links on site for 12 months
As well as entering the competition, photographers can visit the free adventure photography exhibition that will run for almost three weeks from 18 February until March 8 2013 at the Workstation (next door to the Showroom Cinema in Sheffield).

There will also be an exhibition of work from leading adventure photographer Lukasz Warzecha. The exhibition will also feature a return by Dan Lane who exhibited last year and debut ShAFF exhibitions by Andy Leader, Stewart Smith, Nadir Khan and Mat Robinson.

Top professional adventure and climbing photographer Alex Ekins will launch a unique exhibition at ShAFF with a World Premiere of photographs taken during the filming of the award winning 'Wide Boyz' film.
