Video from Kinotika has surfaced of a new Sharp 8K Video Camera - a Micro Four Thirds prototype camera being shown at CES 2019. Specifications and features are subject to change, but it has a 5inch vari-angle screen, and records 8K video at 30fps. In order to record 8K video, the sensor needs to have a resolution of at least 33mp (7680x4320).

The price is expected to be under $6,000 US, which is very good value for money, considering a RED EPIC-W 8K camera (base unit only) will set you back almost $30,000. Official information is due to be announced at NAB 2019.

Here's what we know so far:

  • 8K video recording at 30fps / 33mp CMOS sensor (TBC)
  • 5inch vari-angle screen
  • Image stabilisation
  • Top function buttons
  • Flash hot-shoe
  • SD card slot
  • Tripod socket
  • Mic, Headphone, full-size HDMI, USB Type-C, Audio In (mini-XLR) sockets
