Sigma 18-200mm DC lens
Sigma 18-200mm DC lens named European Lens of the Year
The Sigma 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 DC superzoom lens has been awarded the title of European Lens of the Year 2005-2006 at this years European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) Awards.

The Sigma 18-200mm lens is a high zoom ratio lens, exclusively designed for digital SLRs. EISA, the largest editorial multimedia organisation in Europe, awarded the lens with this prestigious title because of its 11.1 x zoom ratio, ultra compact dimensions, suitability for digital SLRs and excellent correction of distortion and flare - provided by the two Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass elements and two hybrid aspherical lenses, which offer correction for distortion and all types of aberrations. A special coating reduces flare and ghosting and helps to create an optimum colour balance.

Housed in a compact and lightweight construction of 70mm in diameter and 78.1mm in length (weighing just 405g), this lens is capable of covering a wide range of focal lengths, from wide-angle to telephoto. It has a minimum focusing distance of 45cm at all focal lengths and a maximum magnification of 1:4.4. The lens design also incorporates an inner focusing system, preventing the front of the lens from rotating, which makes it particularly suitable for using circular polarising filters and petal shaped lens hoods. The overall length of the lens does not change during focusing, ensuring convenient handling and ease of use. This lens is also ideal for travelling with, as a zoom lock eliminates the problem of 'zoom creep' during transportation.
