We have a look at the Sigma SD1 Merrill + Prototype and Sigma Stand at Photokina 2012.

Sigma SD1 Merrill Plus with new 120-300mm lens.
Sigma were showing the new Sigma SD1 Merrill + prototype camera behind glass at Photokina 2012 with some of their new lenses, including the new Sigma 35mm f/1.4 lens. Here we've shown it next to the standard SD1 Merrill to see what (if any) differences there are:

There don't appear to be any differences on this side of the top of the camera.

On this side, there don't appear to be any differences either.

It doesn't appear as though there are any real differences, apart from the while labelling being painted black. With the next Photokina being another 2 years away, it makes sense for Sigma to announce they are working on the next Sigma SD1 Merrill, or perhaps it's just to let people know there will be an updated version in the future.
