Sony has announced a new firmware update, V2.0, for the Sony Alpha A7S III, that allows users to use S-Cinetone(TM), the advanced cinematic colour science for richer tonal reproduction.
It is based on technology acquired through Sony's development of VENICE digital motion picture cameras, and currently available in FX9, FX6 and FX3 full-frame cameras. S-Cinetone delivers natural mid-tones that are essential to healthy-looking skin colour, plus soft colours and gorgeous highlights.
The new firmware includes an update on Active Mode with 5-axis optical in-body image stabilisation.
Firmware v2.0 Benefits and Improvements
- Adds the P11:S-Cinetone picture profile preset - Note: S-Cinetone is a new video look that introduces a color matrix that produces highly regarded skin tones.
- Adds support for setting Steady Shot to Active during recording movie with S&Q Frame Rate - Note: The Active setting cannot be selected if the S&Q Frame Rate is set to 120fps/100fps or higher.
- Improves the overall stability of the camera
