| Sony Cyber-shot H400 in Compact Cameras
The Sony Cyber-shot H400 is an interesting ultra zoom bridge camera with a large 63x optical zoom lens - this zooms from the wide-angle 24.5mm equivalent all the way to 1550mm equivalent. On the back is a 3inch screen, as well as an Electronic Viewfinder (EVF), along with optical image stabilisation which should help when using a lot of optical zoom.
Sony Cyber-shot H400 Features
The camera features a 20.1 megapixel CCD sensor which means that it only records 720p video rather than full HD video, as well as having a more limited ISO range compared to cameras with a backlit CMOS sensor. Continuous shooting is not as quick as cameras with a backlit CMOS sensor either, such as the higher specification Sony Cyber-shot HX400V.
A lithium-ion rechargeable battery gives a 300 shot battery life rating, and the camera also features a "Party mode" designed to automatically adjust sensitivity, exposure and colour for vivid memories at parties. The camera will accept either a Sony Memory Stick or an SD memory card.
The camera has a dedicated video button, as well as sweep panoramic mode. The camera has an intelligent auto mode, scene modes as well as P/A/S and manual shooting modes. Sample photos taken with a pre-production version of the camera.
