Sony FE 400mm f/2.8 G Master OSS Telephoto Lens, I await the great news about the cost of this lens, if anything like the Nikon pr Canon offerings it'll be well above the average photographers price ceiling I'm quite sure.

The A7r 111 looks like enough of an upgrade for some, I will bide my time with my two A7r 11 bodies which produce excellent results for my style of photography.

we now have a raft of Sony lenses and many after market ones too, with more to come from Sigma.

Perhaps it is not really aimed at the average photographer.

That's as maybe but Sony have to break the Glass Ceiling that Nikon & Canon have over most others where Press and Magazine photographers are concerned, It costs many thousands to equip a photographer with at least two cameras and an array of lenses, and all the bits and pieces they are used to having.

The International Agencies tend to stick with the two main brands even now with all the goodies Sony have produced.

I'll be watching the Games with interest to see who is carrying what in Tokyo, I'm sure you will too.

Well, regarding the "glass", I have never seen a Sony lens with a price lower than the price of a Nikon or Canon equivalent lens.
In my opinion, this 400mm f/2.8 G-Master lens will be more expensive than Nikon and Canon 400mm f/2.8 lenses.

This is the illness of Sony. The bodies are nice but as a system, it suffers from high price of its lenses. Especially Canon provides a very nice system here: its bodies are not top-notch cameras but its lenses are rather "cheap" and Canon has a very wide array of lenses. Wink
