An image of a wild sparrowhawk on moss has been awarded the Photo of the Week accolade.
The image, 'Male Sparrowhawk' by ePz member richmowil stood out to the team and here's why we chose it to win this week:
This is a pin-sharp image of a sparrowhawk. A fine example of the bird, its bright yellow eye really draws the viewer's attention, and the fine, intricate textures of the feathers on the wing can be seen.
The bird is really well posed - a good choice of camera position has been used with the mossy stump in the centre of the frame. A wide aperture has been used to really blur the background and create a sea of rich green which isn't distracting anything from this magnificent bird.
Photo of the Week winners currently receive a 32GB EVO MicroSDHC card with SD adapter courtesy of Samsung. See all the images that have been awarded the accolade in the POTW gallery.
