DCP Systems is announcing the introduction of a special offer bundle containing new Stitcher Express 2 software and the ingenious Panosaurus VR panoramic tripod head. Together, Stitcher Express 2 and Panosaurus enable perfect pictures be photographed without parallax or other alignment distortion, and quickly assembled to make stunningly accurate panoramas.
In just a few clicks of the mouse, Stitcher Express 2 lets you create high quality, professional panoramas. The software provides maximum control and the freedom to personalise and create exactly the panoramas you want, with output of the finished file in jpeg, tiff and quick time formats for printing, use on the web or archiving.
Stitcher Express 2 enables full 360º panoramas and 3D visual representations to be created via its fully automatic, fully spherical stitching engine and full 3D user interface. The software also features automatic, semi-automatic, manual and forced stitching modes to handle all cases including previewing in real time, 3D stencilling and the creation of movies.
The latest version of Stitcher Express also adds the capabilities of embedded smart blending for accurate and efficient rendering. Also included are several new options for publishing panoramas on the Internet including KML based exporting to geo-reference panoramas using the Google Earth browser.
The Panosaurus VR panoramic tripod head is designed for easy attachment to any tripod allowing the camera’s nodal point to be adjusted to precisely over its rotational axis. Rotating the camera around its nodal point eliminates all parallax errors inherent in panoramic photography. The specially designed Panasaurus head allows 360º horizontal as well as good vertical movement making it ideal for multi-shot panoramas.
Standard camera tripods are designed only to hold and rotate a camera around the tripod mounting hole of the camera and this mounting location can be anywhere arbitrarily on the camera body and offset from the optical centre or nodal point of the camera. For accurate panoramic photos, rotating around the nodal point is essential, ensuring minimal optical distortion in the pictures taken for subsequent joining with computer software such as Stitcher Express 2.
Compared to alternative panoramic tripod heads Panosaurus weighs in at just under 2lb and is highly cost-effective. It is manufactured using 0.75in and 0.5in expanded PVC plastic, making it lightweight, strong and durable. The rotator arm is reinforced with aluminium strips and the upright is made from 3/16in stiff aluminium.
In essence, the camera is mounted in portrait mode on Panasaurus which features easy to read markings for quick mounting once the nodal point has been found. Simply loosening the clamping knob in the upright arm enables multi-row panoramic shots to be taken while maintaining the optical centre point of the camera lens.
In the special offer, currently available until the end of September, Stitcher Express 2 and the Panosaurus VR head are available at the specially bundled price of £119 including VAT, a saving of over £67.
