Fashion shows, like fashion, are always evolving. They are no longer considered a simple selling mechanism or an extension of the trade show but have become as much a part of the spectacle and branding as the clothes themselves. These days, each show is carefully planned and constructed to become a work of art in its own right and to celebrate this, an illustrated coffee table book has been written by prolific fashion commentator Federico Poletti to showcase the decadence and artistry of the modern fashion show.

From Chanel’s Pop Art supermarket to the Fendi catwalk on a stretch of the Great Wall of China, high-end fashion shows are very much a spectacular and the new book: The Fashion Set looks gives us a unique insight into many of these iconic shows in great detail.

Inside the cover, you'll find 100 images from 47 of the world's biggest fashion brands, accompanied by interesting captions and a fascinating forward written by legendary fashion writer Colin McDowell. The book also features an essay from renowned critic and blogger Diane Pernet.  

Take a look at photos from the iconic Chanel show that featured a giant lion statue and took thirty sculptors over three months to construct and shots of the vintage steam train that graced the Louis Vuitton runway. The book also contains images of Pierre Cardin's 280-metre-long catwalk in the middle of the Chinese desert and the Kenzo models that posed behind a wall of rain.
