Jon's winning image of an Offshore windfarm at Scroby Islands, Great Yarmouth.
Jon's entry, taken in his hometown of Great Yarmouth in August last year, was selected from over 20,000 landscape images winning the grand prize of £10,000. “I chose the image for the competition because it's a dramatic image with very nice light and i believed the placing of the lightning behind the turbines gave the image a feeling of energy whilst also highlighting two very differing forms of energy itself”
The competition, entitled Take A View, was organised by the AA and the Sunday Times and developed from an idea by landscape photographer Charlie Waite. With four categories including classic landscapes, landscapes with people in them, your view, and landscapes recorded on mobile phones, the competition made its debut this year, but is expected to become an annual event.
In addition to the prize money, the image will also be featured in a six week exhibition at London's South Bank and published in a full colour book. said John. “I was very shocked to start with but also very proud - there are some very good landscapers out there so it's nice to be picked out from so many marvellous entries.”
