Remove all distractions and really focus on details to create a city themed collection of images with a twist.
| Tamron SP AF 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 Di II LD Aspherical (IF) in Close-UpWhen you think of close-ups and shots that focus on detail rather than the bigger picture, you will probably reach for your macro or telephoto zoom lens but what if you're already out taking photos and you don't have one in your kit bag? The answer is you use what you have and make it work.
During our photo walk around Sheffield with the 10-24mm Tamron lens, our eyes were continuously drawn to shapes and detail but with such a wide lens to hand, we had to use our feet as the zoom and for some shots, apply a little bit of post cropping.
Once you begin to search you'll be surprised at the amount of detail you'll be able to fill your frame with and it's not just buildings you should turn your attention to as car badges often give you the opportunity to capture strong shapes against a block of colour. You should also keep your eyes peeled and look in places you might have not first of thought of. For example, the shot below is a close-up of a water feature which, by using our feet and getting up close, has turned into an abstract shot that's much more about shape and colour than what it actually is.
