Last week, we introduced you to the delights of Conisbrough Castle where we said we'd be sharing more shots of this impressive structure in a follow-up blog entry and today, we bring you that blog.  The shots captured by Rick while visiting the castle really illustrate why packing a zoom lens is a really good idea when visiting places of interest and the Tamron 16-300mm we're using for the blog really does offer a lot of zoom in its compact-sized body.

The Tamron 16-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD MACRO has an impressive zoom range of 18.8x as well as offering angles of view equivalent to a 24.8-465mm lens used on a 35mm camera. To illustrate the range of shots you can capture with such a lens, Rick captured images of the castle at 16mm, 35mm, 50mm, 70mm, 100mm, 200mm and 300mm which are marked on the lens as well as an additional shot captured at 26mm (halfway between the 16mm and 35mm markings).

As it only takes a quarter of a turn to go from 16mm to 300mm, the 16-300mm is easier and more comfortable to use than some other lenses that you have to twist much more to reach the full zoom range. The built-in Vibration Compensation is also great for steadying shots, particularly at 300mm, and as the stabilisation is actually in the lens, it means the view through the optical viewfinder on the camera is perfectly still.

The shots captured with the 16-300mm really demonstrate how versatile a superzoom lens is as Rick managed to capture 8 shots, all at various focal lengths, from one spot. Plus, as we mentioned last time, superzooms also save on weight, space and also time as you don't have to mess around changing lenses when you want to use a different focal length.

Take a look at the zoom sequence gallery below to see the shots captured in more detail.
