Tamron Blog: Tracks, Trams & Transport

A few weeks ago, when we said that cities are a brilliant place for a photo walk, we weren't exaggerating as we're back among the busy streets and tall buildings, once again, for our latest blog instalment. 

As well as buildings, transport infrastructure snakes through our city streets, joining one side to the other with tracks, bridges, power lines and plenty of other elements that can be used to create interesting images. 

Sheffield has a tram system and part of it travels over a bridge before meeting other tracks at a central point. The tracks make brilliant lead-in lines, as do the cables above, while the bridge is a strong focal point for shots. We can't forget the actual trams as photographic subjects either but do be careful where you position yourself if capturing similar shots as we don't want you getting in the way of a tram in motion.

Also, don't be alarmed if people ask you what you're doing, it's just a sign of the times, unfortunately, and so long as you're polite, you shouldn't face too many problems. 

Again, the 10-24mm from Tamron was the lens of choice (mainly because it was the only one we headed out of the door with!) but we really like the results it's produced. The top shot of the bridge is a particular favourite as the wide-angle has exaggerated the size of the bridge, making it dominate the frame.

For an ultra-wide lens, it's dealt with shooting into the sun rather well, too which is a plus point we just thought deserved a quick mention.
