Intro2020 are responsible for distributing a number of well-known photographic brands in the UK, including Tamron, Samyang, Tamrac, Hoya filters, Slik, Velbon, Gossen, Steiner, Polaris and more. Intro2020 recently became distributors for Samyang lenses, which includes a range of video lenses, which Intro2020 say are a large area of growth in the photographic and video industry. With that in mind, Intro2020 also recently became distributors for AZDEN microphones, with an external microphone being one of the main ways to improve video quality, thanks to much improved sound quality.
Intro2020 took a number of journalists on a trip to Amsterdam to get an overview and hands-on experience of the range of products available from Intro2020, including the new Tamron 16-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD Macro lens, shown below.
Another new lens from Tamron, is the full-frame Tamron 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD, which is in high demand as a lens that delivers an impressive amount of telephoto reach, yet without the high price normally associated with a long telephoto lens. Intro2020 has also introduced the OpTech Snoot Boot soft padded case specifically designed to fit this lens.
An area that is of interest to both stills photographers and videographers are Samyang's range of lenses, which continues to be expanded by the introduction of new lenses. Samyang has recently developed a number of new lenses that feature a Nano Coating System for improved image quality and lenses that are less susceptible to ghosting and lens flare. Five new Samyang lenses have been announced:
35mm f/1.4 Canon AE - £569.99 inc VAT
300mm f/6.3 Mirror lens - £310.00 inc VAT
Samyang 10mm T3.1 for VDSLR - 479.99 inc VAT
Samyang 12mm T2.2 for VDSLR - £389.99 inc VAT
Samyang 7.5mm T3.8 for VDSLR (Micro Four Thirds) - £329.99 inc VAT
We had a look at the new Samyang 12mm T2.2 lens (shown above) designed for videographers using APS-C and Micro Four Thirds cameras, and have taken a number of sample photos with the Samyang 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS lens on an Olympus OM-D E-M1. The Samyang 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS lens benefits from the new Nano Coating System and is optically identical to the T2.2 VDSLR lens, however the VDSLR lens features geared focus and aperture control, as well as a clickless aperture, making it ideal for changes during video recording.
Tokina Cine Lenses are a new range for Intro2020, first shown at The Photography Show, and sees the introduction of two new lenses designed for cinema and video recording: the Tokina 11-16mm T3 is designed for APS-C / Micro Four Thirds sensor cameras, and is available in Canon EF and Micro Four Thirds lens mounts. The Tokina 16-28mm T3 is designed for full-frame sensor cameras and is available in PL and Canon EF lens mounts. For more details have a look at the Tokina Cine Lens news.
HOYA filters - Intro2020 are distributors of Hoya filters. Hoya has a number of filters, including PROND filters, Circular polarising filters (shown above), variable ND filters*, UV filters and protection filters, as well as a range of new hydrophilic filters, designed to repel water. The new hydrophilic filters will be particularly useful for photography and video recording in wet weather. A demonstration video can be seen below:
*HOYA variable density filters are not called "Variable Neutral Density" filters, as according to HOYA there is no such thing as a neutral variable density filter. They say that only the non-variable neutral density filters meets the neutral quality standards Hoya has set.
The LensPen rangehas been updated to use a new white carbon instead of the carbon black of previous versions. This new white carbon technology is designed to avoid the possibility of any black deposits being left on the products that you are cleaning. The range includes a number of products design to clean: Lenses, Sensors, Tablets, Smartphones, Filters, Optical viewfinders, and more. LensPen also produce a sensor cleaning kit, that is designed as a safe and reliable dry process for cleaning digital camera sensors, without the danger of any residue being left on the sensor from wet cleaning solutions.
Velbon Tripods - one of the biggest selling tripod ranges in the UK, Velbon tripods cover a wide range of sizes and prices, starting with compact, lightweight tripods such as the CX Mini, moving up to more heavy duty tripods. Recently introduced is the new Velbon Ultrek UT-63D travel tripod, which sits at the top of the range, and is a larger version of the UT-43D. The UT-63D has a maximum extended height of 156cm yet the UT-63D still manages to compact down to 30.5cm for travel thanks to clever 6-section legs and extending centre column.

Inside the bag is a padded area to support a number of camera(s) and lenses, and has a pocket for a small tablet or laptop from the Apache 4 and 6.
The Interceptor range of bags are a new range of simple but stylish over the shoulder bags available in a number of bright colours. The new CamRanger PT (Pan & Tilt) Hub & Head kit, shown above, is a new hardware accessory for CamRanger that allows Photographers to wirelessly control the rotating head with 360 degrees of rotation and 15 degrees up and down movement. Making it ideal for multi image Panoramas, high level photography where the viewfinder cannot be reached, and time lapse sequences with programmed movement. The CamRanger software is regularly updated and has recently been updated to include focus peaking live view, shadow and highlight views and more.
Gossen has released the new Sixtomat F2 digital light meter - this intelligent light meter lets you meter at your desired aperture setting, as well as measure the contrast range, to ensure you avoid blown out highlights or underexposed shadows. Another flash meter available from Intro2020 is the Polaris Flash Meter which can be used with studio lights for accurate metering with studio and other flash lighting kits.
Steiner Binoculars - Steiner has introduced a new range of binoculars, the Steiner SkyHawk 3.0 range.
