With spring creeping around the corner we thought we'd take a look at some of the flower shots awarded POTW.
| Flowers and PlantsOf course, thanks to supermarkets selling flowers all year round flower photography is something that's accessible throughout the year (as some of the images here demonstrate). We have a few tutorials on indoor flower photography, plus a technique on shooting more abstract style flower photography too. Take a look at ePHOTOzine's technique section for a full list of flower photography tutorials.
As a general rule, you'll need a tripod (one with legs that splay would be perfect when working outdoors so you can get close to the ground), a reflector and something to hold your subject still, such as a plamp. A DSLR such as the Nikon D4 or D800 with a macro lens would also have a place in your kit bag, although some compacts do now have very good close focusing distances so can be used to capture flower shots.
