You might remember Marques Brownlee as we've shared a couple of his previous cool comparison videos and, well, he's got another one to share with us but this time, it's a 16 smartphone showdown.

All of the smartphones featured have come out in the past year or two and include the Google Pixel 3, Google Pixel 2, iPhone XS, iPhone X, Samsung Galaxy Note 9, Huawei P20 Pro, Huawei Mate20 Pro, Red Hydrogen, LG V40, OnePlus 6T, Razer Phone 2, HTC U12 Plus, Moto Z2 Force, Pocophone F1, Blackberry KEY2 and the Palm Phone.

Some of the smartphones are more expensive than others and each has their own features, characteristics and camera specs so it'll definitely be interesting to see which one came out on top.

In case you're interested, the original vote took place via Instagram and Twitter which you can still view on Marques Brownlee's feed and in the video, Marques explains how the vote took place. To make it fair, the exact same image was captured with each of the smartphones featured, at the same time and on the same day, so the playing field was as level as possible. Each of the images were then stitched together so they could be compared side-by-side by those who wanted to take part in the voting.

After several rounds of voting, the Huawei Mate20 Pro came out on top which, isn't much of a surprise as it's a really great camera phone. However, as well as crowning a winner, it was a great way to find out what people think makes a great photo and straight out of camera, it's good exposure that wins the day. On test, 9 times out of 10 it was the brighter, more saturated image that won the vote. Plus, you have to remember that the compression social media channels apply to images mean that any sharpness advantages some shots may have had over others, sort of, become irrelevant.

Is it a technical, scientific test? No, it's not but it's interesting to see how when you're just given an 'A, B or C' choice with no information on what device captured it, how people vote.

So, which is your favourite smartphone for capturing images with and why? Answers welcomed below.

No feces Sherlock. People went for the brighter image. Kind echoes pablophotographer's point about what people look first in the image. Yanks sinked the left to right battleship polluting our seas. Jolly good.
