A company called GNARBOX have created a portable hard drive which makes backing up photos a doddle.
| Digital Storage Devices
The GNARBOX 2.0 SSD is a new backup device that got our attention thanks to the one-touch backup solution it offers.
To backup your files, you simply insert your memory card into the GNARBOX 2.0, press a button and watch the onboard OLED screen to see when the process is complete. You can back up with speeds up to 75MB/s using the SD Card slot or 450MB/s via USB-C and you can also access folder trees you'll have preset to keep files organised and tidy.
The GNARBOX 2.0 SSD is protected from dust and capable of withstanding water immersion between 15 cm and 1 meter for 30 minutes. Replaceable batteries make it easy to plan for your shoot or trip and the device features an Intel processor, NVMe SSD, 802.11ac WiFi, SD card slot, and two USB-C ports.
As well as introducing a new SSD, GNARBOX has created four new mobile apps to use with the drive. Plus, it can be integrated with popular photo editing software such as Adobe Lightroom.
The four new apps help speed up workflow and include:
- Safekeep: For file and folder organisation/transfer
- Selects: RAW image preview and easy-to-use tools to mark your selects, manage metadata and save time preparing your shots for edit
- Sequence: Has the tools you need to review footage, start rough cuts in the field and transition your video project to the studio
- Showcase: Lets you view your photos and videos in high resolution on any HDMI-enabled screen
You can pledge to back the GNARBOX 2.0 over on Kickstarter where the team behind it have already smashed their target. The GNARBOX 2.0 is available now for pre-order in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB.
