Understanding Layers In Photoshop
Layers are one of the most useful tools found in Adobe Photoshop but they are a bit complicated to use when you're first starting out with Photoshop and they have some hidden features even the most advanced pro might even know about so that's why our friends over at The School of Photography have put this cracking video tutorial together.
In the 1-hour tutorial, they show you everything layers have to offer such as creating and using multiple layers, adding layer styles, using smart objects as layers, layer masking, using adjustment layers and much more.
"Layers are arguably one of the most complex things in Photoshop but one of the fundamental aspects to take control of. So, in this tutorial, we bring you the most in-depth, ultimate guide to Layers in Photoshop," The School of Photography.
What's In The Tutorial?
The tutorial begins with an explanation of what exactly layers are before giving a basic introduction to what they are used for. The rest of the tutorial covers each aspect of what layers have to offer in more detail. If you prefer to read than watch when learning, there are also some great tips over on The School of Photography website where you can download the same images used in the tutorial so you can follow along.
Photoshop Layers In A Paragraph
To explain briefly what layers are, they allow you to work on different sections of an image without affecting the other parts. You can also move layers, rename them, organise them in different orders, group layers together, hide layers and delete layers. After the basics come more complicated but really cool editing abilities such as creating layer masks and adding adjustment layers.
As we said, to really get to grips with layers, we'd recommend watching the video tutorial as it's really good! Thank you for sharing The School of Photography.
