Three British Photographers Win At Sony World Photography Awards 2015  - Three British photographers have today been announced as category winners in the Sony World Photography Awards.

Three British photographers have been crowned as winners in the Open and Youth Competitions of the 2015 Sony World Photography Awards.

The images captured by these three photographers, the youngest of which is 14-years-old, were selected from over 86,000 entries from across the world.

Antony Crossfield was named the winner of the Open Enhanced Category with his image 'Bomb' while Norman Quinn, named the winner of the Open Panoramic Category, captured an image titled 'perfect symmetry.' The youngest winner, Stephanie Anjo won the Youth Portraiture Category with an image titled 'Mellow Memories.'

The three photographers receive a Sony ILCE-7M2K camera with 28-70mm kit lens and a Xperia™ smartphone. Crossfield and Quinn will now compete against the winners of the other eight Open categories for the 2015 Sony World Photography Awards Open Photographer of the Year title and $5,000 (USD) prize.

The other Open category winners include:

  • Architecture - Armin Appel, Germany
  • Arts & Culture - Hector Muñoz Huerta, Mexico
  • Low Light - Nick Ng, Malaysia
  • Nature & Wildlife - Antoine Weis, Switzerland/ Luxemburg (joint nationality)
  • People - Saleh Rozati, Iran (lives in Austria)
  • Smile - Wilson Lee, Hong Kong
  • Split Second - Jaime Massieu, Spain
  • Travel - Yasen Georgiev, Bulgaria 

The two other category winners from the Youth competition are Beatriz Mota da Rocha from Portugal who took the title in the Culture category and Yong Lin Tan from Malaysia who won the top accolade in the Environment category.

The winner and runners up of the Mobile Phone competition, which is new to this year's awards, were also announced today and they are:

  • Winner - Turi Calafato, Italy
  • 2nd place - Janos M Schmidt, Hungary
  • 3rd place - Ako Salemi, Iran
