Three New Sony APS-C Lenses Announced: 11mm F/1.8, 10-20mm F/4 G Power Zoom & 15mm F/1.4 G

Sony has not forgotten its loyal APS-C format users, and introduce three brand new lenses into the crop format range. Filling a gap in the APS-C range in the wide and ultra-wide areas, there are two primes and one zoom, covering between them from 10mm to 20mm, a "35mm equivalent" field of view from 15mm to 30mm.

Sony E 11mm f/1.8

A fast, compact ultra-wide prime, with a "35mm equivalent" FOV of 16.5mm. Weighing in at a svelte 181g, a perfect companion for vloggers and content creators. Built for excellence, with dust and moisture resistance, the lens comprises 12 elements in 11 groups, with 3 Aspheric and 3 ED (Extra-Low Dispersion). With 7 rounded aperture blades for smooth bokeh, distortion correction built-in, 2 linear focus motors for fast silent focusing and minimal focus breathing, this is a lens for stills and videographers alike.

Sony E 15mm F/1.4 G

A high-quality G series lens, the 15mm has a fast f/1.4 maximum aperture, automatic distortion compensation, 2 linear motors, minimal focus breathing and dust and moisture resistance. It still weighs in at a very low 219g. Optical construction is 13 elements in 12 groups, including 3 Aspherical, 1 ED and 1 Super ED. The diaphragm comprises 7 rounded blades for improved bokeh. There is even an aperture ring provided and the click stops can be switched off if required, ideal for videography.

Sony E PZ 10-20mm f/4 G Power Zoom

Still only weighing 178g, this small zoom lens has a Power Zoom feature, an especially useful feature for videographers. It is an Internal Zoom, so the lens does not extend in lens when zooming. This means the centre of gravity does not alter. The zoom is parfocal, so holds the focus point when zoomed. There is minimal focus breathing, again ideal for videographers. A neat trick is the direction of zoom can be reversed. Remote Commander RMT-P1BT can be used, or alternatively, the lens can be controlled via a smartphone. Optical construction is 11 elements in 8 groups, including 3 Aspherical, 2 ED and 1 ED Aspherical.
