TIME has released a list of images their photo editors believe to be the 100 best images of 2016.
The list is the second epic list TIME has released during the latter part of this year with the popular magazine sharing what they believe to be the most influential photographs of all time with us back in November.
The 100-strong list features images that capture both hardship and sorrow as well as more joyous moments and historical achievements. Europe's migrant crisis has continued to dominate images in the press, as too has photos of people fleeing Syria, Iraq and other countries at war. Brexit and the U.S. presidential election, of course, also dominated the year and we can't forget that 2016 was an Olympic year with Usain Bolt appearing in many images across the globe.
The slideshow featuring the top 100 photos of 2016, shown in no particular order, can be viewed on the TIME website.
