It is a completely newly designed medium telephoto prime lens that's ideal for shooting portraits, landscapes, street photography and close up shots.

Inside the Tokina atx-m 85mm f/1.8 FE you find 10 optical elements, including one SD (Low-dispersion) element, in 7 groups along with 9 aperture blades and the Super Low Reflection Coating means the lens handles ghosting and flare well. Plus, the lens is resistant to water, oil and dust. 

There's an ST-M focus motor for accurate, quiet and quick focusing and the larger diameter of the front glass element coupled with low light fall-off and a fast f/1.8 aperture, bokeh is smooth and you get lovely round light points in out of focus area. 

As the lens is compatible with Sony E-mount full-frame cameras, you can take full advantage of features found on cameras in the Sony A7 series such as 5-axis image stabilisation, MF assist, Face/Eye Priority AF, Real-time Eye AF and the electronic distance scale.
