Some people just want an all-in-one solution, and I can see that; it's much better than a camera phone for image quality and versatility, but will you always have it on you, as most people do with a phone? 12 years ago I thought I had the world by the tail with a Fuji S602, which had a max focal range to 210mm. It was bliss till I got my first DSLR, then the bar was raised in so many areas. Before last Christmas I sold all my SLR kit and bought an Olympus Stylus 1, f2.8 throughout the 28-300mm range, and including just about all the latest bells and whistles; I kept it less than 2 weeks, then sold it. I now have a very complete Nikon DSLR system, and I won't go back to a bridge camera. The main reason being that the sensor is too restricting for my purposes; if I always had good light, and never wanted to crop an image, fine, but I shoot in early morning and late evening light a lot, and the small sensor does not give you much to work with. These cameras listed here are very good, although I wouldn't consider a camera having the longest focal range in this case being a plus, maybe for record shots, but even with IS you're really stretching it for IQ. I think the Olympus Stylus 1 is at the top of this list, but it fell way short of my requirements, very frustrating.

Not to put a damper on anybody's plans, but a bit of advice from someone who's been there and done that.
I now have the Panasonic FZ1000.Blush I really like this camera, and it is an ultra zoom, 32X, you just select izoom, and it must be jpeg. It is optical with no loss of IQ. The various video modes also crop the sensor, eg. I get 1024mm when shooting 120 fps slow motion. (I believe it is 100fps in PAL zones. "Normal" 4K video is 37mm to 592mm at an aspect ratio of 16:9. Their is a "PhotoVideo" mode for 4K which gives you the option to change the aspect ratio to whatever you like, and gives different focal lengths for each ratio, and the same 8mp frames for grabbing as stills as the Normal mode.
