Exodus Travel has taken a look at Lonely Planet's Best In Travel Predictions for 2017 to see if some of their favourite locations have made an appearance and among the top location list are some hidden gems as well as quite a few of Exodus Travel's top places for walking and trekking.
Lonely Planet’s top 5 must-see countries for 2017 are Canada, Colombia, Finland, Dominica and Nepal while top cities to visit include Bordeaux, Cape Town, Los Angeles, Pistoia and Ohrid. On the travel bargain list are Nepal, Namibia, Porto, Venice Debrecen, Belize, Morocco, Russia, Bellarine Peninsula and Michigan's Upper Peninsula. As for regions, these include Taranaki in New Zealand, The Azores in Portugal and North Wales.
Commenting on the mountainous region of Nepal, a place that's actually made two of Lonely Planet's lists, Exodus Travel said: "The mountainous kingdom is synonymous with Himalayan hiking, and was the birthplace of our walking and trekking programme all those years ago. In the last year we’ve been more connected with this place than ever, with the aftermath of the earthquake and the rebuilding project to help get the nation back on its feet, and we believe 2017 is the year the trekking trails return to their former glory as confidence grows and more people make their dreams of walking here come true."
Exodus Travel says that Canada, with its mix of mountains, lakes and pine forests, is the perfect location for wilderness fans and wildlife photographers while Finland is a landscape photographer's dream.
Dominica is a destination tipped to hit the big time very soon and it's very different to the cold climate of Finland with its lush, tropical vibe. It's not somewhere sunbathers should head but it is perfect for adventure photographers. Architecture photography fans will love the colourful charming towns found in Colombia and the ancient city of Peru should be equally popular with architecture photographers and history fans. Choquequirao is tipped to be the next Machu Picchu so if you enjoy exploring historical sites, you might want to head there before the rest of the World descends on its location.
Exodus Travel actually offers tours of many of the locations featured on the list and you can find more information about the hotly anticipated destinations on the Exodus Travel website as well as in the Lonely Planet video below.
