Toshiba Memory is set to make a fresh start under a new name in the Autumn which combines the Japanese word for "memory" and the Greek word for "value".
| Industry News
Toshiba Memory has announced that it will officially change its name to 'Kioxia' (kee-ox-ee-uh) on 1 October 2019.
By merging the Japanese word for 'memory' with the Greek word 'value', Toshiba says the name 'Kioxia' represents the company’s mission to uplift the world with 'memory', which forms the foundation of the company’s vision.
The Toshiba Memory Corporation first introduced NAND flash memory in 1987 and with increasing demands for large-capacity, high-performance storage and data processing, Toshiba hopes it will continue to grow as a leading flash memory producer for many years to come.
The name Kioxia will be adopted for the names of all Toshiba Memory companies, largely effective on the same date.
