Use Different Angles With Nikon Kit

Angles are very important when it comes to photography. Choose the right angle, and your photo can shine above the rest. The angle needed can vary depending on what type of photographs you are taking, and you'll need to experiment to see what works best for your subjects. To help you discover new angles with your Nikon kit, here are five top ways to use different angles to help you out: 

Climb up high

Getting up and above your subject can help to give it that extra punch necessary. This techniques works especially well with landscape and city images with wide vistas - sometimes, being at ground level with the subject just won't cut it when you're trying to portray the beauty and vastness of a space. Climbing a nearby hill or even a tall building will help to lift the scene, giving you an aerial perspective and letting the viewer's eye take in the whole scene. 

Go out to sea / onto the lake

While we're on the theme of outdoor landscape photos, lakes and the sea are always popular and very photogenic destinations. But photos looking out to the lake or sea are absolutely everywhere, so what can you do to make your image a little different? Try going out to sea, or onto the lake, on a boat trip or even in a canoe if you have a waterproof Coolpix camera. This will allow you to get a view looking back toward the shore, from a different angle to the people that are stuck on land, allowing you to capture potentially never before taken images. 

Underwater photography

While near the lake or by the sea, why not try underwater photography? If you have a Coolpix waterproof camera, the Nikon 1 AW 1 or a camera casing for another Nikon camera, this is a novel ideal that will allow you co capture images of marine life and fish like never before. The colours and scenes of the underwater landscapes are totally different to those on land. You could even try taking images with the camera half in and half out of the water, too.

Sit down 

Whilst on the subject of being under things, another way to change your angle is to try sitting down to take the image. Coming down to the level of your subject, rather than towering above it, is a great way to give a sense of intimacy to the image. Sitting down can also allow larger subjects such as trees to tower above you, giving an overbearing feel. 

Lie down 

Taking sitting one step further, lying down will allow you to shoot upwards, from below things you wouldn't usually be able to. For example, if you live near crop or poppy fields or have tall flowers in your garden, lying down to photograph them will give you a view of below the stem, looking up to the sky, ideal for that summery feel.
