When To Use Your Smartphone As A Remote Viewfinder

Samsung Smart cameras, including the NX1 and NX Mini, use NFC technology to enable you to use your smartphone as a wireless remote viewfinder. 

Using a smartphone as a wireless remote viewfinder also allows your photos to be GPS tagged, so you'll be able to remember the location of the shot, too. All you need to do to get started is simply touch the camera with an NFC compatible Smartphone, and you're ready to shoot. Here's why using your smartphone as a remote viewfinder will be of benefit:

Include everyone in the shot - Using a compatible smartphone to trigger the camera means that you'll be able to get everyone in the scene, without missing someone out. Using the self timer will work too, but by using the smartphone, you'll be able to see the image on the screen of the phone, so that you can ensure everyone's in the shot and smiling before you touch the screen to take the shot. 

Change camera settings without moving - You'll be able to change camera settings from your phone, eliminating the need for you to leave the group shot. This is also ideal if you've set the camera up to shoot wildlife, and moved some distance away, and don't want to disturb the subject. 

Zoom in and out as necessary - You can also zoom in and zoom out using your smartphone too, allowing you to take photos from a different perspective without having to move the camera. 

GPS tagging - By using your smartphone, you'll also be able to automatically GPS tag your images, helping you to plot where your images were taken for future reference. This is something that you wouldn't be able to do if you used the self timer mode.
