Quick Verdict

The Vanguard VEO 2GO 235AB is a compact tripod ideal for those with mirrorless or small DSLR kit that want to travel light without sacrificing build quality. It offers great value for money too, with spiked feet, a low angle adapter and padded carry bag included.

+ Pros

  • Really compact
  • Spiked feet, low angle adapter and padded bag included
  • Easy to use grips and knobs
  • Foam grip for cold weather

- Cons

  • 4kg max load is modest
  • Not the tallest of tripods (taller models in the range are available)

The Vanguard VEO 2GO 235AB is a super compact aluminium travel tripod. It's part or a larger family of products in the 2 GO range including the 265HAB which is less compact but features a built-in monopod and the 204AB designed for mirrorless, bridge and smartphone cameras. All of the tripods in the 2GO range are also available as carbon fibre models. They're Vanguard's smallest travel tripods yet, folding down to only 32.5cm. Let's take a closer look at the Vanguard 2GO 235AB.

Vanguard VEO 2GO 235AB Features

The Vanguard VEO 2GO 235AB is designed for mirrorless and small DSLR camera kits weighing up to 4kg. There are 23mm diameter legs with 5 sections and a slim, neat-looking Arca-Swiss compatible ball head with quick release system.

The tripod can fold down to 32.5cm and weighs 1.25kg. The max height is a reasonable 143cm. The legs can be set at 3 different angles and to adjust them there is an ergonomic spring-loaded lever at the top of each one.

The model comes with quite a lot of extras - a low-angle adaptor and optional spiked feet are included, as well as a thick, padded canvas carry bag. The central column can be reversed to get your camera closer to the ground, and there's also a hook at the bottom of it to add weight to the tripod on a windy day.

The leg height is adjusted by twist locks featuring textured rubber grips and there's a foam grip on one leg for picking up and moving the tripod in the cold. Head adjustments are made using gripped knobs featuring a jut so that they are ergonomic to operate when using gloves.
