VII Insider, a unique interactive platform that hosts free bi-weekly online events for photographers, curators and journalists, has announced the appointment of David Campbell as managing editor. David will be responsible for expanding the VII Insider educational programme, which incorporates in-depth case studies, advice and resources covering technical, ethical and business practice.

Thanks to support from PhotoWings, the VII Insider platform is completely free of charge for anyone to join worldwide, and provides the opportunity for its community to engage with renowned photographers, curators, editors, designers, agents and many leading media practitioners from the extensive VII global network.

VII Insider’s aim is to promote debate and discussion to advance the production and analysis of documentary stories addressing complex social, economic, environmental and human rights issues. Events range from examining coverage of the storming of the US Capitol with VII photographers who were there, speaking with Sebastião Salgado about his latest project, to technical talks on printing and postproduction techniques, and advice on how to manage a contemporary career as a photographer. VII Insider is a project of The VII Foundation in partnership with PhotoWings and VII Photo Agency.

Gary Knight, CEO of The VII Foundation commented: "David is a significant and ambitious hire. He brings decades of experience in education and media literacy, the DNA of The VII Foundation, as well as in communications strategy, new media, visual storytelling and management. David will help The VII Foundation expand its reach and develop the growing global community that we have already started to establish."

David Campbell said: "I’m excited to be joining a team committed to supporting documentary storytelling, increasing diversity in education, and expanding the conversation about photography’s role in the contemporary world. I’ve long admired the VII Foundation’s mission and I’m delighted to be in a position contributing to its success."
