The Vintage Camera iOS app adds vintage effects to your photos and lets you share them directly to Facebook and Twitter or by email. The creators say it has a retro design inspired by cameras from the last century. You can purchase the app now for £0.69 from the iTunes Store.

Vintage Camera Pro iOS App Performance

When you open the app the menu looks like a camera, with three buttons at the bottom of the screen, these being saved photos, camera and settings. The settings area allows you to save your photos in high-resolution and change the order of effects, meaning you can have your favourites easier to access. In the settings you can also set the app to automatically upload to Facebook and Twitter.

Head to the camera option and you can take pictures with either the front of rear camera as well as turn the flash on or off. There's no option to shoot HDR images as you'd find with the built-in iOS camera app. If you prefer to use an image you've already taken, hit the film roll in the bottom right corner. When you load your picture you are asked to move and scale your image, the only option is a square crop. You can then rotate your image if needed.

The filters are along the bottom of the screen, with a small preview to give you an idea of what the filter will look like. Press the one you want and it is automatically applied to your image. The next step is to hit save. Hit done and it saves to your camera roll, or you can choose to save to Facebook or Twitter, email or delete. The images are also saved within the app in a film roll style which can be cycled through.

Here are examples of each of the filters, some have a grey border, some are black. Images are saved as .png files with the maximum resolution being 1280 x 1280 and low resolution images 640 x 640.

The Vintage Camera Pro iOS app is easy to use and ideal for images which are going to be shared on Facebook and Twitter. To even try and justify its Pro tag it needs to save images in their original resolution, but you are limited to just 1280 x 1280. It feels a little similar to Instagram, which is free, but if some of the filter effects appeal to your taste, £0.69 is a small price to pay for the app.
