Learn About PZD (Piezo Drive) Technology: AF 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD
Some of Tamron's lenses, like the 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3,  use PZD technology, which enables higher autofocus performance with less weight and bulk added to the lens.

The Piezoelectric drive is used in place of travelling wave energy as it is more efficient. PZD can focus precisely and quickly. This speed allows the user to capture images in more challenging scenarios crisply where otherwise these images might end up soft.

Another pro of the PZD is that it is really quiet, making it ideal for nature photography, live performance shooting photography, sports photography and other situations that require quiet lens operation.
