Using the Pentax-D FA Macro 50mm f/2.8 Lens: Closest focus is 19.5cm which still allows adequate working distance for allowing light onto your subject | 1/100 sec | f/5.6 | 50.0 mm | ISO 400

This Pentax 50mm macro lens is lightweight, and offers a bright maximum aperture of f/2.8. It is capable of life size magnification at its closest focus distance, and on a Pentax DSLR this lens will provide an angle of view roughly equivalent to a 75mm lens used on a 35mm camera. Here are some situations when this lens will be ideal:

In landscape photography - If you see something of interest in the landscape and want to focus in on it, this lens will be ideal. A subject of special interest within a landscape will be portrayed much better with this lens than a standard zoom kit lens, as it has the ability to portray small details more distinctly.

In portrait photography - The 50mm f/2.8 macro lens allows you to concentrate on small details of the body, such as fingertips or eyes. The impression given by the photograph will change depending on the focal point, giving you the ability to shoot images that express different things. This lens is really sharp, and this paired with its ability to create great bokeh makes it ideal for picking out the smaller things.

In flower photography - To vividly portray flowers, you need to get in close, and this is where the Pentax-D FA Macro lens comes in. With life-size magnification, even the veins on the petals of the flowers will be portrayed vividly, giving an extremely sharp focal point. Experiment with different views, and try abstract shooting, from under the stem as well as above to give a different perspective.

When photographing animals - You can portray a different side to your pet by using the 50mm macro lens and zooming in on their features. A standard lens will enable you to capture the standard cute image with no problems, however to capture the miniature predator inside your cat, for example, you need to zoom in on the face or claws, focusing on the eyes and teeth, giving a different appearance and impression to the animal.
