Widen Your Point Of View With The new Irix 11mm f/4!: Irix 11mm

TH Swiss company is the producer of Irix lenses that are designed by European photographers and manufactured in Korea. Its business started with the release of the 15mm f/2.4 lens in September 2016 and when its production evolved, the Irix Team knew that the 15mm would stand as a role model for its future product-siblings.

Irix has recently introduced a line-up of brand-new products that have increased blood flow in lovers of wide-angle photography once again and this line-up includes the new Irix 11mm lens that offers a focal length of 11mm and an aperture of f/4 without a fisheye field of view. The new lens also inherits the innovative technology and design from its older brother, the popular 15mm f/2.4 lens.

The Irix 11mm is a lens made for Full Frame DSLR cameras. It is designed particularly for travellers, architecture photographers and photojournalists. It has a minimal distortion of 3.13% and an astonishing angle of view of 126-degrees. Capturing extreme sports, mountain scenes, a starlit night sky, architectural vaults... it's never been easier thanks to Irix optics. Plus, there is no wider lens currently available for DSLR cameras.

These lenses encompass incredible precision for details and beautiful design both in lens construction and their packaging. The lenses are packaged in metal containers which not only protect the lenses during transportation, but they also emphasise the great craftsmanship of Irix engineers and designers. As before, the Irix 11mm is provided in two versions – premium Blackstone and standard Firefly. Irix Blackstone comes with a hard lens case while in the Firefly container you will find a soft lens pouch. Moreover, inside each box, there is a warranty card, an instruction leaflet and an additional rear cap.

Both versions of the 11mm lens refer to the functionality of the Irix 15mm f/2.4. Focus lock ring, click stop at infinity, hyperfocal scale, rear gelatin filter slot – these are only a few features that encapsulate Irix design. Three weather sealings, two on the focus rings and one on the camera mount, are the cherry on top of the new Irix lens.

The only difference between the Blackstone and Firefly versions are their exterior materials. Markings on the Blackstone version are engraved and filled with UV reactive paint while on the Firefly version they are simply printed. On the Blackstone lens, the focusing ring is constructed from metal anodised with a grooved surface while on the Firefly lens it's an anti-slip rubber coating. The Irix Blackstone is also made from a solid alloy built from aluminium and magnesium while the Irix Firefly is made from a lightweight composite for photographers who prefer to pack light.

Bearing all this in mind, the new Irix 11mm f/4 is an unbeatable tool for travelers, architecture photographers, reporters and all photographers who want their gear to have the best quality, design and maximum functionality. Irix lenses have it all.
