sails into sunset

A wonderful moody image of a windmill at sunset has been awarded the POTW accolade this week.

The image, titled 'Sails into Sunset' is by ePz member chris-p and here's why we thought it deserved to win the accolade:

This is an almost silhouetted capture with the strong orange colours of the sunset highlighting the shapes of the windmill and the long grasses surrounding it. The image is positively glowing with fiery red and orange tones.

To the right, we get the final hint of the sun highlighting the clouds with strong yellow colours as it goes down for the day. The scene almost looks like something from a film - with the brooding dark clouds of the sky further allowing the red tones of light hitting the windmill to be seen in all their glory. A really atmospheric capture.

Photo of the week winners currently get their hands on a 32GB EVO MicroSDHC card from Samsung. See all the images that have won the accolade in the POTW gallery
