Xiaomi is teasing its fans with an image showing a smartphone and the words '48MP camera'.

The President of Xiaomi has shared an image on his Weibo account of what looks to be a smartphone and next to it are the words '48MP CAMERA'.
You can also see a lens and what looks to be a flash but apart from that, no other details have been given out about the device's specs.
Lin does say that it will arrive in January, though.
The news comes after Samsung and Sony announced they're working on 48MP smartphone sensors that could appear in smartphones from 2019 onwards.
