Xiaomi/Redmi might not be a smartphone brand you're too familiar with but with the release of a budget-friendly 48MP smartphone, they could be a brand that very quickly becomes more well known.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 features Sony's IMX586 48-megapixel sensor which can also be found in the Honor View20 48-megapixel smartphone.
A bit like Honor with Huawei, Redmi is the less expensive branch of the Xiaomi family and with the new Redmi Note 7, you get a 13MP selfie camera, 6.3-inch LCD display (2340x1080) and a 48MP f/1.8 rear camera with a 5MP f/1.4 depth sensor for creating bokeh and other depth effects (several AI and a beauty mode are also built in). Video can be captured at 1080p (30,60 and 120fps).
The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 660 chipset, as well as a 4000mAh battery and quick charge is supported. Plus, 3 RAM/storage options are available (3/32 GB, 4/64 GB, and 6/64 GB) and memory can be expanded with a MicroSD memory card.
As for the design, the Redmi Note 7 has a very familiar shape with rounded corners, curved edges and thin bezels. There's only a small chin and the top notch is drop-size (like the Honor 10 Lite) giving users an even better screen-to-body ratio.
Prices start at 999yuan for the 3/32GB version which converts to around £116, currently.
There's no information on when the smartphone will be available in the UK as of yet but plenty of details can be found on the Chinese Mi website.
