| L16 in Industry NewsLight have announced a joint development partnership with Xiaomi, which more than likely means that a Xiaomi smartphone with a multi-camera array will be coming soon.
"Xiaomi is one of the most innovative smartphone device manufacturers with an incredible pedigree, and we’re excited to enter this partnership with them," said Dave Grannan, CEO and co-founder, Light. "Light’s computational imaging is forever changing the way our devices see the world, and we look forward to applying our pioneering multi-camera technology and empowering their devices with the imaging solutions of the future."
More multi-camera array smartphones
Smartphones are definitely moving in a multi-camera direction, with the latest smartphone from Nokia, the Nokia 9 PureView, offering a 5 camera setup which has been created in collaboration with Light.
Light have now announced that they intend to work with more smartphone manufacturers to create further innovations with multi-camera outputs, with the overall aim of creating a smartphone camera setup that can rival that of a DSLR.
Sony's sensors are used in the majority of smartphone cameras, and Light has recently announced that it is incorporating its multi-camera array with Sony's image processing system. On the back of this, Sony say this technology will help them to launch Sony smartphones in the future with 4 or more cameras in the setup.
Light also has its own brand L16 camera, with 16 different 32-megapixel cameras.
