Digital Image Editing and Special Effects is a title by Michael Freeman, a seasoned pro in all things photography.
This book is all about mastering the key techniques of Photoshop and Lightroom. It covers Software tools and techniques, image enhancement, image retouching and special effects.
Freeman provides a compact and easy to follow guide on editing your images in the most popular software packages out there today.
He talks us through all the basic edits that you might want to make to your photos, starting with the very basics such as re-sizing and cropping and moving on to removing image distortion and improving the colour of your photos.
The book moves on to more complex tasks like removing dust and hotspots from images, and removing unwanted objects from the backgrounds of images. The book is filled with colourful images, all with captions about what edit is taking place in the photo or how it was improved. Simple to follow step by step guides make it really simple to achieve the desired effect from your edits.
Overall, this book is pretty basic for those who already know a thing or two about image editing, so someone who uses editing software a lot might not learn anything new. But if you're new to the world of image editing, or are struggling to get to grips with it, then this book is well worth a read.
