Great Photos – Simple cameras is a book all about lomography cameras, film cameras, and simple digital cameras, that can still take great images despite their age or status.

The book goes through different types of cameras in turn, showing the reader loads of fantastic images that the camera has taken. Bernd Daub is a very knowledgeable author, and he guides us through the cameras, introducing them, giving us a case history, and explaining just why they are still so great.

The book covers everything from single use cameras, to pinhole cameras, to Kodak brownie cameras, and is lovely to look through and see the different and stunning photos and effects all these different cameras create.

The book also looks at lenses and accessories that also create some great effects. Despite the fact that the images we see in the book are not perfect, or by no means anywhere near as detailed as the images that can be achieved today, they show character, and that is what makes this book such a riveting read. These individual cameras helped shape the top DSLRs we have today, and should be celebrated as such.

There is still an artistic and vintage use for these cameras, and this book shows that they still live on.
