Lighting for Product Photography is a step by step guide into the world of sculpting with light for product shots.

Images of products can make all the difference between whether a potential buyer will choose them or not, so the book explains how to take stunning images of products that fit what the client asks for.

Author Allison Earnest explains that a lot of the techniques used are similar to those of shooting portraits, however that certain materials will have characteristics that need catering for. We are shown how to take a reading of the available light, and then how to set up the appropriate equipment for the shot. There is a chapter on various different lighting sources, so even a novice will be able to get to grips with what is required.

The book looks at the principles of product lighting, with several case studies of different products explaining how shots were took, and if there were any issues how they were solved.

Overall, this book is very helpful in explaining how to place your lighting to show off certain products, and includes lots of helpful diagram shots explaining how scenes were set up for the shots.
