Night and Low Light Photography is a guide to taking shots when lighting isn't so good.
More than just a book, this guide provides you with various tools to help you, including a fold out grey card and wallet sized push out reference cards to help you adjust settings to your needs quickly and effectively with great results.
This extended version has everything in it that you could possibly need to know about low light photography. It starts off by looking at that all important photography necessity, light. All photography needs some from of lighting, and here we are guided through the different types of light and how they will effect your photography.
The next chapter is on exposure, another key part of low lighting photography. Exposure can dramatically change how an image turns out, and so the book goes through how we can control the light and how different lighting makes a difference.
Equipment is also a key part in getting good photography at night time. A tripod is essential for lower shutter speeds and we are taught proper technique, along with using polarising filters to manipulate the light.
The book than goes on to talk about flash, and how you can utilise these techniques in different situations, such as shooting landscapes and cityscapes as well as portraits and other subjects.
Overall, this book is very useful and describes clearly the techniques needed to get good photography during the night and in low light. Having a built in grey card and pocket exposure guide is also a great and very useful idea.
