Photographic Lighting is a compact and informative guide to lighting in photography.
The first chapter looks at the basics of flash, bringing your attention to the different temperatures of light and how different flash strengths will affect the look of the overall shot. It also looks at flash gels, which will affect the temperature and colour of the light given out.
The second chapter looks at on camera flash equipment. It covers diffusion panels for your flash, and how tilting and rotating the flash can make all the difference. It explains how angles and diffusion affect the light.
Also looked at is using off camera flash. Covered is how to set up off camera flash, and how to use it effectively in different situations. There is a full chapter on the home studio and different scenarios that you could shoot with.
At the end of the book there is a section on how to achieve 13 different looks with just one Speedlight, ideal for the photographer on a budget.
The book also features a fold out grey card and pop out lighting reference cards, to help you when shooting. This book will be a great addition to your collection if you wish to know more about lighting. It has plenty of photos and explained examples of how the look of the shot was achieved.
