Author:Rod Edwards

Photographing People Like A Pro is a guide to digital portrait photography, available in a handy e-Book. The original hardback and paperback has also been completely updated and revised with new images and lots more text.

Beginning with an introduction to what makes a good portrait image, Rod explains that anyone can take a portrait image, but it's the elements within the image and the personality of the person that needs to shine through in order for your portraits to work.

The book looks at the different types of camera available and explains a bit about each one, as well as resolution, sensor size and why these are important. Lenses are then looked at, the different types of lenses available and what effect they will have on your portrait images, as well as example images from Rod to illustrate the point.

Next looked at is lighting, on location and in the studio, with detailed descriptions of the kit you'll need along with why and what each piece of kit is best at. Also looked at in detail is computers and software, detailing which software is best along with preferred file formats for working with. Everything is covered, including backup solutions for your images, colour calibration and work through processes.

Looked at next is designing the image, with tips for composition, positioning and blurring the background. How using accent colours, selective focus, and using shapes and lines is important is also looked at before the book moves on to look at working with light.

Each image includes a description of how it was taken and some Photoshop focus bullet points, giving you handy hints and tips for bettering the image in post processing software.

Overall, this e-Book is very detailed, covering all the different aspects of portraiture and offering tips and hints for achieving different looks and feelings within the pictures. It will be extremely useful if you're new to portrait photography or are more experienced but want detailed tips on how to better your images in post processing software.
