The Ilex Introduction To Photography is a guide to everything you need to shoot, edit and share great digital photos.
It is designed to help you capture the moment every time, no matter what camera you have. Author Haje Jan Kamps spells out right from the start that you don't necessarily need the top end expensive kit or a 'natural talent and good eye' to become a great photographer. With the right knowledge under your belt, you can capture great images.
The book then looks at the different types of equipment, from fixed lens cameras and interchangeable lens cameras to what to look for in a camera body and a lens. Also looked at is what camera and lens might be ideal for you.
The next chapter looks at photography fundamentals, including exposure, shutter speeds, apertures and what effect these will have on your photos as well as how to set them appropriately for your situation. Focus, depth of field and shooting modes are also looked at.
The following chapters include detailed information on colour, white balance, using flash and composition riles and techniques, as well as shooting in different environments and with lots of different subjects, from people and animals to still lifes of objects and landscapes.
The last chapter is all about sharing your photos on the move, and editing them in post production. It includes information about the sharing facilities on smart cameras, as well as how to perform basic edits with leading post production software.
Overall, the book is a great guide for anyone new to photography, whether they have the camera and want to improve their skills, or have no prior knowledge at all and want to start a new hobby. It is clearly laid out, and includes lots of photos to help you understand and learn about all aspects of photography.
